  • You have to ask them whether they encrypt their programs, as probably nobody here knows Arabic.

  • I think it is safe to assume that the recording is encrypted.

  • Quote from SAT-ShopHN: “The site is 100% in arabic .... but I found that link......” Which link exactly?

  • AFAIK the iCord has only one "thread" for descrambling, it therefore cannot descramble two senders even if on the same transponder, the second one being always laid encrypted on the HDD. It may be that there are dual threads CI-CAMs, but this still restricts to the same transponder.

The HD+ is very unstable, in particular due to the heat. Maybe if you can allow it to cool down (more space, more, bigger fans etc.) ... Due to heat I also expect it to develop capacitor failures any time soon if not already had some ...

Well, you should have searched for this forum (or any other similar one) before buying it. It's boring to read all the pages, I know, but one has to balance the time lost with reading with the money lost by a wrong decision.

  • Do you have two modules and two cards, or just two modules and a single card you used in both?

  • Quote from dustpuppy77: “> Everyone else: don't think reception is the problem as both CI modules do work when I put them directly in my Philips TV. I have no issue watching TV Vlaanderen then, just via the iCord. On the 'new' transponder; the reception is 85% strength and 100% quality on the iCord.” The icord is not accurate at all. Take those numbers with a grain of salt. Unfortunately, the icord uses below average tuners (from Samsung). I had myself problems with the new HDTV channels (when t…

  • In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is. But anyway, your numbers underlined what I said. At least 2.4dB CNI (carrier-to-noise + interference) is required to go up from QPSK (DVB-S) to high-bit-density equivalent 8PSK (DVB-S2) for equal treatment. The higher the bitrate, the higher the CNI requirement. In other words the reception of DVB-S2 all things equal is with 2.4dB worse (more or less equivalent to one extra F-Stecker on the cable). But this is of…

  • I am not sure either why is this way, I see however that the new transponder is DVB-S2 while the old one was DVB-S. My bet is that you have an insufficient reception, as DVB-S2 channels need a better S/N ratio than older DVB-S ones, and also not all transponders of a satellite have the same power and they are subject to interferences in a different manner. The Humax is not the master of reception, it may fail where others succeed (like Kathrein).

  • Unfortunately, they are not obliged to. They provided two alternate ways, so it's not their fault that you insists using your way. On the other hand, schooling the customers in using their own network (in particular router) is beyond the scope of a manufacturer of satellite/cable receivers. Sorry if it sounds unfriendly, it's simply not, just a study of a real case. Find someone with an ASTRA 19° dish.

Maybe because Quote: “The private agreements required to enable these features are beyond the scope the present document” See also 5.4.6. which repeats the same.

  • Quote from imadmwk: “I've read somewhere that there is a way to decrypt HD recording in order to view them on PC, but I lost the link and didn't find the method, can someone tell me how to watch HI-DEF records on pc” If you by "decrypting" mean recordings that one needs a subscription card to watch them, then even if there were a method, it is against the rules of this forum (and illegal too) for anyone to tell you how to watch them without that card. If you live in a country where this is legal…

  • For the first item: - the senders are required to provide EPG for the current and next show/programme. One week or two or one month in advance is generally regarded as a bonus, and some senders ask money for it. In Germany, where almost all senders are on ASTRA 19°, there is a special channel called tvtv.de, the enabled receivers can download the infos for 1-2 weeks in advance. But this is only for Astra and German channels. Each PayTV provider has a similar channel, or provides extended EPG for…

  • You can't use them anyway because they are still encoded. Otherwise you take the HDD out, and read it under linux or with ext2fs tools under windows/mac. Then put it back.

Nobody said Humax is perfect. Go buy yourself a Topfield, it has RTC but also heating issues, or spend twice the amount to have a Dreambox equivalent (I hate the LCD on them, the newest version has OLED, much better but also 300€ more) and so on.
